How can I register my team? When does registration open?

Is there an on-site check-in?
Yes. Teams can check in at the Moshofsky Center on Friday night from 5:00-9:00 PM. Alternatively, teams can check in at the tournament desk in your playing venue on Saturday up to one hour prior to their first scheduled match. All teams must turn in a copy of their roster during check-in. Put your contact information on the roster.
Can foreign teams participate in the tournament?
Yes! Since this is a USAV-sanctioned tournament, please contact the Columbia Empire Volleyball Association (CEVA) by e-mail to complete the necessary steps. Only contact CEVA if your team has been accepted in the tournament. E-mail CEVA at region@cevaregion.org.
What is the format of the tournament?
On Saturday & Sunday, all teams will be in 4-team pools. All matches (for the entire tournament) are best of 3 sets, win by 2, no cap. Monday is single-elimination bracket play. Each team will play at least 7 matches, barring any last minute team cancellations.
What rule sets are used?
This tournament uses USA Volleyball rules.
Are officials provided by the tournament? What officiating responsibilities will my team have?
There will be R1’s (up officials) on each match. Officiating teams must provide an R2, two line judges, and a full table crew.
Teams late for officiating will be penalized 1 point for every minute they are late, starting from when the last team finished their warm-up. Points will be assessed on the team’s next match. A “no-show” will incur a 10-point penalty for the first two sets of their next match.
Note - on Monday, the losing team will officiating the next match on the same court, regardless of age division or bracket flight. Teams who fail to fulfill their officiating duties on Monday will not be accepted in the tournament next year.
What are the pool play tiebreaker procedures?
If two teams are tied in match record, the head-to-head result of the match between the two tied teams will determine the higher finish in pool.
If three teams are tied in match record, the following criteria are considered, in order:
Set percentage in all pool play matches.
Point percentage in all pool play matches.
Note - in a three-team tie, if two teams are tied on any single criteria (e.g., if two of the three teams have the same set percentage), those teams finishes are determined by the criteria for a two-way tie.
How are forfeits handled?
Matches are played immediately following the conclusion of the previous match on the same court. Forfeit time is game time. USAV rule book procedures will be followed if teams are not present.
How are protests handled?
Protests must be filed at the time of the incident - this is the only opportunity to protest. The protest committee will consist of a head official and tournament director or tournament staff member. Judgement calls are not subject to protest. Only rules interpretations can be protested.
How is the tournament seeded?
Since this event is early in the season, we may ask club directors to provide information about their team. Our tournament staff will contact you by phone or e-mail if we need any additional information about teams in your club. Generally, we will consider the following information (in no particular order):
Current regional Power League seeds and/or results (if available)
Past history of the team or club in this tournament.
Previous season’s regional Power League, qualifier, or national championship results.
Preseason seeding if available/needed.
Some regions have separate Power Leagues for 15s & 17s. In this tournament, 15s play in the 16s division, and 17s play in the 17s division.
Will there be enough seating?
Each facility has seating available. Outside chairs are permitted at the Bob Keefer Center, though bleacher seating is available at that facility. Personal chairs aren’t necessary at the Moshofsky Center.
What food will be available at each location? Is outside/drink allowed?
There are several food vendors available at the Moshofsky Center. Typically, there will be a coffee truck, BBQ, noodles, Mexican, donuts, and deli sandwiches. Outside food can be stored in the large tent outside the front entrance of the Moshofsky Center. Outside food is not permitted in the camping area, court area, or on the turf.
Bob Keefer Center typically has a coffee vendor and 1-2 food trucks available. Outside food is only permitted in the two rooms designated for food. Food may not be stored in these rooms and areas must be cleared.
Please be mindful of the facility policies in each location pertaining to food & drinks.
Will athletic trainers be on site?
Yes - trainers will be on site at each facility. Trainers will be on site to handle injuries or medical emergencies only. If trainers are available to do preventative taping (not guaranteed), you must supply your own tape. Each team must have necessary medical supplies and a first aid kit. Ice will be available at all playing sites.
When will the tournament schedule be posted?
Schedules are typically posted by 5:00 PM on the Tuesday prior to the event. Schedule questions directed to the tournament staff should come from coaches or club directors only.
Will tournament apparel be available?
Yes! A huge selection of colors, sizes, and logos will be available from Fine Designs at all playing locations.
Are collegiate coaches allowed to recruit at the event?
Yes, collegiate coaches can attend the event. University Athlete is used as the event’s recruiting information portal. Remember - the tournament has no control over the UA list or when college coaches register.
Does the tournament have a live streaming service?
No. Spectators are allowed to stream matches if they’d like. Please note that facilities have very limited WiFi internet access and speed/bandwidth of the internet is not guaranteed.
