HOW CAN I REGISTER MY TEAM?

HOW DO TEAMS CHECK IN?

All teams will check in at the venue's tournament desk up to 1 hour before the wave starts at your assigned location. All coaches must check their team in prior to play commencing. Copies of your team rosters are required for verification.


WHAT IS THE PLAYING FORMAT?

Saturday and Sunday is pool play with 4-team pools. Best 2/3 sets. No Cap, win by 2. Monday is single-elimination bracket play. Both the 16’s & 18’s tournaments are set up with two divisions. 18’s D1 courts 11, 12, 13, 14 could have a 4th place team cross over on Sat/Sun.


DO TEAMS HAVE TO OFFICIATE?

Each court will have an R1 provided. Teams must provide a R2, two line judges, a scorekeeper, a score flipper, & a libero tracker. Teams late for officiating will be penalized 1 point for every minute they are late, starting from when the last team finished their warm-up. Points will be assessed at the team's next match. Complete no show will incur a 15 point penalty for first 2 sets of their next match.

On the last day of the event, ALL teams are responsible for their final ref assignment. RULE OF THUMB: losers ref next match on their court. Clubs will be fined $50 if they leave without doing their ref assignment.


WHAT ARE THE TIEBREAKER PROCEDURES?

Under no scenario will there be tie-breaking sets played. The tiebreaker procedures are:

  • Two teams tied: 1) Head to Head
  • Three team tied 1) set percentage in all pools; 2) point percentage in all pool matches; 3) coin toss

HOW ARE FORFEITS HANDLED?

Matches will be played immediately after previous match. After official calls for coin flip any team not present will incur a 1 point penalty for each minute they are late. After 25 minutes 1st set will be forfeited. Same procedure for 2nd set as stated above.


WHAT IF A COACH WANTS TO PROTEST?

Protests must be filed at the time of the incident - this is the ONLY opportunity to protest. The protest will be noted on the score sheet. The protest panel will be the TD, Head Official, and official not involved in the match. Only rules or rules interpretation can be protested—NOT judgement calls.


HOW IS MHM SEEDED?

It is difficult since we are the first event of the year. Phone calls are made to help with seeding and since seeding has to be done and formatted on AES before regions have any power leagues, the criteria below is used. The earliness of our event is one of the reasons why we use two divisions; it allows teams that may be under-seeded or over-seeded to move. When seeding, we consider:

  1. Current regional power league results
  2. Preseason seeds by each region for the current year
  3. Results from last years MHM Classic
  4. History of clubs and teams in their regions & past MHM tournaments

WILL THERE BE ENOUGH SEATING?

Venues will have plenty of seating provided. Leave your personal chairs at home or in your car.

All teams must keep all bags and personal items at the west end of the Moshofsky Center behind Cts. 13, 14, 15, & 16.


WHAT FOOD WILL BE AVAILABLE AT EACH LOCATION?

There are about 12 food vendors inside the "Mo Center", from coffee, bbq, noodles, mexican, yogurt, crepes & more.  Fine Designs will be doing custom MHM t-shirts, hoodies, pants & other items. The Duck Store is also located in the Mo Center for Duck stuff.  There are tables and chairs indoors to be used for all food purchased from the vendors at “The MO”. NO FOOD anywhere else in the facility.  All coolers must be kept outside the arena under the large tent.

We have the food concession at Bob Keefer Rec Center offering breakfast items, sub sandwiches, soup, healthy snacks, drinks, etc.  Fine Designs will also be on location selling custom event apparel.  All coolers outside.  No tents in the parking lot.

At Matt Knight Arena, there are a number of food options on the main UO campus including the EMU Student Union, as well as many food outlets within 5 minute walk of the Arena


IS OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED?

Outside food is only allowed in the designated areas outside all 3 playing sites. No outside food is allowed inside the Bob Keefer Center.

Mo Center - NO FOOD OR SNACKS EVER IN THE CAMPING AREA. A 10-point penalty for each offense can be administered by the tournament staff.

There will be an outdoor tent at the Mo Center, providing protection from the elements for teams coolers & tables.

There will be no outdoor tents allowed at Bob Keefer Center parking  lot.  Please plan accordingly.

There is no cooking of food allowed at any of the facilities or Autzen Stadium RV parking areas. Please leave your tailgate supplies in the RV or at home.


WILL ADMISSION BE CHARGED?

There will be no admission charged at any of the facilities for this event.


WILL A TRAINER BE ONSITE?

There will be a trainer on site at the Moshofsky Center and the Bob Keefer Center primarily for any injuries that may happen.  General taping should be done by team staff if possible.  Trainers may be available for some taping.  Players should bring tape with them.  Matt Knight arena will not have a trainer on site.


WHERE CAN I SEE THE SCHEDULE FOR THE TOURNAMENT?

The event schedule and format is handled through AES, an online service used for multiple tournaments throughout the USA. Click the “SCHEDULE” link in the top navigation bar for the updated info. NOTE: If the schedule link doesn’t bring you directly into the tournament schedule, this is because the schedule is not currently available. You can also google advanced event systems.


WILL TOURNAMENT APPAREL BE AVAILABLE?

A huge selection of colors, sizes, and logos will be available from Fine Designs at The Mo Center and the Bob Keefer Center. Aries Apparel will be located at both these locations, with many volleyball knicknacks, etc.


ARE COLLEGIATE COACHES ALLOWED TO RECRUIT AT THE EVENT?

Yes, collegiate coaches can attend the event.

University Athlete is used as the event’s recruiting information tool.

Registration for collegiate coaches ($10/each) will be available via a link on our home page after team registration has closed.

A list of collegiate coaches scheduled to attend will be available on our home page prior to the event.
